Beside the clinical importance of effect active substance on the central and peripheral autonomic nervous system, another particularly important reason is the lack of pharmacological data on the mechanisms of pharmacological action selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors in healthy volunteers. this study we evaluated the effect of different antidepressants on the autonomic nervous system both in a well-trained and healthy volunteer group. For the first study, we studied role of the 5-HT system in learning and spatial cognitive abilities. For the second study, we explored relationship between autonomic functions, particularly the nervous system's control of heart rate, and the 5-HT system in subjects without any prior history of heart problems. The findings these studies demonstrated that when the 5-HT system is Valsartan 80 mg filmtabletten
stimulated by stimulation of its receptors the autonomic nervous system automatically regulates the heart rate.
In the study of 5-HT system and cardiovascular health, the most studied molecule of this system is 5- HT. Recent studies on this molecule included both acute experiments and long-term assessing the effects of an increase in the serotonin content (5-hydroxytryptamine [5-HT] and 5-hydroxyindoleacetic acid [5-HIAA]) in different types of brain regions (Bäckström et al., 1993; Näätänen 1995; 1996). However, the exact neural role of serotonin remains to be elucidated. Despite the fact that first attempts to block the activity of 5-HT system resulted in adverse responses experimental animals (Zawadzki et al., 1973), studies with pharmacological agents have not been able to provide strong evidence that the 5-HT system plays a role in the control of body temperature (Muller et al., 1969). Recently the effect of an increase 5-HT content paroxetine generic health
in different brain regions has been tested in some of the clinical studies using psychotropic medication. For example, increased neuronal activity in the striatum has been observed in subjects receiving SSRIs (Martin et al., 1986; Taveras 1990; Paroxetine 20mg $188.51 - $1.05 Per pill
1991). In other studies an increase of 5-HT content has not been observed in hypothalamus and amygdala (Chervanter et al., 1991; Lisman and McEwen, 1991). The possibility for a potential interaction of different neurotransmitter systems with the 5-HT system is suggested by some findings on interaction of the 5-HT system with monoamine oxidase A, N-methyl-D-aspartate, and histamine systems (Näätänen et al., 1995; Näätänen 1996). It has been proposed that interaction of these different neurotransmitter systems might modify the 5-HT system's functions in some brain regions (Lisman and McEwen, 1991). It has been suggested also that antidepressant drugs may have a unique influence on the 5-HT system, as well on the 5-HT system and other neurotransmitter systems, in the context of their activity in brain regions involved the modulation of control heart rate (Lisman and McEwen, 1991).
Because antidepressant medications affect the 5-HT system in ways that are not dependent on changes in the monoamine neurotransmitter systems, it was important to have data on these effects in order to understand more clearly the effects of 5-HT on autonomic nervous system. For this purpose, we carried out a two-phase study to evaluate the effects of antidepressants on autonomic nervous system. In the first two phases, we used pharmacological experiments to examine the effects of antidepressants on cardiovascular system, as mentioned previously. generic paroxetine vs paxil In the second phase, we monitored effects of the antidepressants on cerebral autonomic parameters in healthy individuals without previous history of heart problems.
In the first study we tested effect of selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) on the autonomic nervous system in a well-trained healthy female volunteer group (N = 9). The effects of SSRIs on autonomic nervous system functions in this group were s
